The current funding cuts in the public cultural sector pose major challenges for many artists and cultural practitioners – particularly those who are transnational, exiled, or displaced. In cooperation with touring artists, this advisory programworkshop is designed to provide practical guidance and support. Felix Sodemann (touring artists) will begin by offering an overview of the current public funding opportunities in Berlin and showing how access can still be facilitated despite reduced chances—sharing tips and strategies for navigating the intensified competition. At the same time, the discussion will highlight structural issues and underscore the need for sustainable cultural funding. In addition, he will provide insights into private funding sources such as foundations and outline their potential for cultural practitioners. Finally, the program will look beyond national borders: Which special funding opportunities abroad may open up new perspectives for transnational artists and projects? The event will be held in English.
