Tuesday, 17 June 2025 via zoom | Visarte Schweiz and IGBK, supported by touring artists

Visarte Schweiz, Berufsverband Visuelle Kunst and the IGBK - in cooperation with touring artists - offered a “Lunch Session” on 17 June 2025 on the subject of art transport between Germany and Switzerland. The info session was primarily aimed at self-employed artists who organize their own transports between the two countries and do not use the services of shipping companies or receive extensive support from partner organizations.

The focus was on the two topics of definitive import into Switzerland/Germany and temporary use of artworks in Switzerland/Germany for exhibition purposes. The basics and important administrative steps for import and export formalities were presented. Around 60 participants followed the explanations. Their questions in the chat and in the round table included what to do if an A.T.A. carnet is used for temporary transportation and a work is unexpectedly sold abroad and remains there. It was also of interest how transfers from the studio in Switzerland to the place of residence in Germany are to be regulated or whether shipping companies handle Carnet procedures for their customers? It would be desirable to take up these and other important ideas in subsequent lunch sessions, for example.

A comprehensive checklist on issues relating to the transportation of art between the two countries is also in preparation.
