The City of Düsseldorf's international artist exchange is one of the focal points of the state capital's support for artists. The Cultural Office currently maintains artist exchange programmes with 10 foreign partner organisations.
International contacts and the exchange associated with them are an essential facet of artists' work.
As a rule, the artist exchange programmes involve a two-month stay in a guest studio of the respective partner organisations. The artists are given the opportunity to work artistically in an environment that stimulates them. Furthermore, it is important to establish contacts with fellow artists and other people from the cultural scene during the stay. The results of the artist exchange are regularly presented in the Atelier am Eck.
The Cultural Office invites tenders for all exchange projects for Düsseldorf artists and is responsible for the preparation, organisation and implementation of the exchange programmes with the partner organisations.
For the artists travelling to Düsseldorf, the Cultural Office has five guest studios that can be used for guest residencies throughout the year. The Cultural Office supports the artists by creating good working conditions and involves them in municipal projects, such as Kunstpunkte.
Applications from foreign artists are only to be sent to the state capital Düsseldorf via the respective partner organisation in the other country. Unsolicited applications cannot be considered.
