The International Studio Programme of the ACC Galerie and the City of Weimar was established in 1994. As co-initiator and partner of the International Studio Programme, the City of Weimar pursues the goal of linking the promotion of artists and the presentation of contemporary art in the urban space, acting as a meeting place and forum for women artists and attracting international attention. In this way, international cultural exchange is to be promoted and prejudices dismantled.
The city of Weimar supports the programme by providing, among other things, a studio with an attached flat in the Städtisches Atelierhaus Weimar - one of the oldest buildings of its kind in Germany. It houses 11 studios that are rented out to artists for limited periods of time.
The city of Weimar finances three quarters of the respective monthly stipend of 1,000 euros. The remaining quarter is raised by the ACC Galerie Weimar, which organises the worldwide application procedure, convenes the independent jury and looks after the artists throughout the year.
