There are two residences on the second floor that can be accessed with an elevator. The flats are equipped with a barrier free bathroom and certain appliances in the flat (e.g. kitchen) are installed at a lower height so that a person in a wheelchair can reach them. However, the community area in the attic is not accessible with the elevator.

Fresh A.I.R. is an artist in residence programme in Berlin, which is was founded in 2018 and is run by the charitabe foundation Berliner Leben. The programme offers art and culture professionals from the field of Urban and New Contemporary Art, time, space and resources to dedicate themselves to an artistic project within the framework of a specific thematic complex (oriented towards the funding priorities of the Berliner Leben foundation).
The fundation gives participants the opportunity to explore new impulses during their stay and be fully immersed into Berlin's cultural life, with the aim of developing artistically and gaining important experience for their further professional career. Up to 13 artists each year are invited to Berlin for an 11-month working stay. During their stay, the artists have all their monthly costs covered (from the materials used for their project, to the mobility costs and living expenses), while also receiving a rent-free accomodation in a lively part of the city.
There are 11 residencies of different sizes distributed over 3 floors of a regular tenement building. Each flat has a fully equipped kitchen, shower, WC, sleeping room, and a spacious live/work studio (ready with working table/s, overhead and desk lamps, a sofa and shelves). WIFI and basic expenses (maintenance, gas, electricity, and internet) are included. A generous community area with an extra kitchen area to meet and hold, e.g. meetings, movie nights, conferences etc. can be found on the top floor.
Each flat has a spacious and brigth live/work studio (ready with working table/s, overhead and desk lamps, a sofa and shelves). There is also a small workshop with basic appliances across the street. Our workshop manager (a certified carpenter) is happy to assist. Next to the workshop is a medium-size exhibition space. Other opportunities like using pop-up spaces or Open House events to present themselves to an audience are offered to the artists as well.

Artists are expected to present (parts of) their project in a joint presentation of the project outcomes towards the end of their scholarship period. During their stay they have the opportunity to conduct workshops with partner organizations, participate in open studio presentations, join an exhibition at the main space and to discuss further possibilites of presenting their work. Furthermore, Fresh A.I.R. is constantly expanding their network of academic partners and artists have the opportunity to be involved with students from different fields of studies surrounding arts, art education etc. and to exchange knowledge. Regular social media coverage about the Fresh A.I.R. fellows, events and collaborations gives the project a greater reach.
Application is possible once a year via the online application platform. Calls for proposals are announced online on the website and in social media as well as on relevant platforms.
