Artists Unlimited

The Artists Unlimited association was founded in 1985 to provide a place for creative work and shared living.

In the same year, an old paper factory in the centre of Bielefeld was converted into living and working space. Today, Artists Unlimited is an established place that has enriched Bielefeld's cultural life through numerous initiatives. So far, more than 90 artists have received a three-month working grant from the international guest studio, and 240 exhibitions have been shown in the gallery since 1987. Currently, 26 artists, designers and cultural workers live and work in the building on August-Bebel-Straße, complementing and enriching each other and creating a space for the liberal and applied arts.

The rooms consist of a studio (40 sqm) and a flat (32 sqm) with kitchen, washing machine and internet. They are located on the first floor of the old factory building, together with two other living and working areas of permanent residents. Artists Unlimited pays 600 euros per month to each artist. Travel expenses are not covered.

At the end of the residency, each guest has the opportunity to have a solo exhibition at the Artists Unlimited Gallery.
