Künstlerhäuser Worpswede

Since 1971, the Künstlerhäuser Worpswede e.V. (KHW) has been operating five studio flats in the artists' village Worpswede. The association has made a name for itself worldwide with its continuous association has made a name for itself worldwide and is regarded as the oldest and for a long time also the largest institution for the promotion of artists in Germany. Over 500 international artists were guests at the KHW (& Barkenhoff) until 2009, then the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Arts discontinued the funding of individual ceased. The association then reorganised itself. The MWK continues to provide scholarship holders from Lower Saxony come to Worpswede for a short stay. But the the programmatic focus of the KHW has shifted: Today we are a production site for contemporary art. Project-based & institutional cooperations & academy exchange determine our work.
