Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste (IGBK), Bundesverband Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler (BBK), Deutscher Künstlerbund, GEDOK - Verband der Gemeinschaften der Künstlerinnen und Kunstfördernden and the Internationale Künstlergremium (IKG) welcome the planned aid measures by the German federal state and the German Länder governments to support businesses, freelancers and self-employed to mitigate the effects of the corona crisis.

Resource subsidies, support in personal emergencies and the increase in legal protection mechanisms are measures that also have to be taken up by numerous actors from the cultural and media sector. However, they are not enough to protect, rebuild and secure art and culture in all of its previous diversity in the long term.

Against this background, the above-mentioned associations have drawn up a joint declaration and called for short-term measures and a sustainable cultural stimulus program. The signing associations also support the request by the Deutscher Kulturrat to secure the cultural infrastructure through a national cultural infrastructure funding fund.
