Berlin Art Institute

The BERLIN ART INSTITUTE promotes artistic production, discourse, mediation and research, and is dedicated to training and further education in the contemporary context through its various programs. Via international cooperation, the BAI strives for intercultural exchange and a lively, transnational dialogue, and acts as a player in the art, culture, creative, civic, and education sector. BAI Studio Program is the name of the on-site artist residency of Berlin Art Institute. It makes use of the large number of national and international artists in Berlin and generates its temporary and regular partners from this pool to make a broad and flexible program offer. The regular events of the BAI with alternating artists, critics, curators etc. enable all participants an exchange with the actors of contemporary art in Berlin during their stay. The program of the art residency is organized and moderated by directors who place a special focus on the content-related needs and artistic positions of the program participants when selecting guest lecturers and organizing lectures and work reviews. The block structure of the BAI program allows freely choosing the date and duration of the stay.

Studios are approx. 45 to 55 m² with a height of approx. 3.5 m. The bright spaces facing northeast are equipped with working tables and chairs, overhead lighting, and light protection for the windows. One studio can be used by 3 or 4 persons. Five minutes by foot from the BAI you can find a large DIY market with a comprehensive offer of material and tools.
