TEOR/éTica
M.Paola Malavasi Lachner (aka Lola Malavasi) (San José, Costa Rica, 1987) is a cultural manager and curator, , interested in artistic management practices, experimental education processes, and institutional critique. She is currently one of three Co-directors in TEOR/éTica, an independent contemporary art space, located in San José, Costa Rica.
From 2016 to 2020 she curated and facilitated Alter Academia, a residency program focused on guiding young artists from Costa Rica. Alongside Miguel A. López, she curated the exhibition Virginia Pérez-Ratton. Centroamérica: deseo de lugar (MUAC-UNAM, Mexico City, 2019), and co-edited the publication of this exhibition that reviewed work done by this important Costa Rican artist, agent, and curator. With Marilia Loureiro, she is currently co-curator of LasecueLA: escuela latinoamericana de cuidados, an online (de)school and “residency” developed by TEOR/éTica, Capacete (Rio de Janeiro) and Lugar a Dudas (Cali).
BFA Art History and minor in Fashion (Summa Cum Laude), Savannah College of Art and Design, 2011 (although, TEOR/éTica and the many wonderful people that have contributed to it are responsible for a never-ending education that continues to expand and develop).
Lola joins us for the onAIRISM - interaction and connectivity workshop in June and the conference in November 2022. She was also part of the 2021 project onAIRISM - challenges and transitions.
