The Center for Ceramics - Berlin Residency Program is designed for artists, potters, sculptors, designers and art historians working in clay or who have a background in ceramics. Our mission is to provide residents the time and space needed to work on a specific project, develop research, or experiment in the studio.

Located in the neighborhood of Pankow, 3 miles north of Mitte, the center of East Berlin, the Center for Ceramics is on a spacious lot, surrounded by a beautiful and enchanted garden. Residents will enjoy spacious studios and private living quarters, with a shared kitchen and dining area. The center’s idyllic environment is conducive for creative growth and experimentation. With no expectations or pressure to produce, as we promise no exhibition for residents, artists are free to experience the vibrant city of Berlin and its thriving art scene, to fully delve into their studio practice, or a little bit of both.

The residency provides studio and private living space for up to three artists at a time. The private living quarters with wifi and a shared bathroom are located in the villa on the property. A narrow staircase leads to rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Two of the rooms are spacious with double-beds and the third room is small and charming with a single bed. All the rooms offer a view of the 130 year old beech tree, which gives the property a special atmosphere. The kitchen, dining area and the common area are found in the studio-house.

The ground floor of the studio-house has three studios, two bathrooms, and a washer and a dryer. One studio is private, while the other is a shared space that can accommodate two artists. The studios are simply furnished to allow for all types of work styles and residency goals. The studios are each 14 -16 qm (150 - 170 sq.ft) and wheels are available upon request. The upstairs of the studio-house features the kitchen, dining area and a common area with a TV and large ceramic library.
Residency duration is between 1 and 6 months.
The residency is located two blocks from S+U Bahn Pankow.
