The SCHIESSLHAUS AiR is an artists’ residence with an international Artist-in-Residence program in Kollnburg, Bavarian Forest. It is a studio house for professional artists and at the same time a cultural venue. The project consists of an AiR Program and a Public Education and Participation Program with exhibitions, lecture series, networking meetings, workshops and open studios. The SCHIESSLHAUS AiR promotes contemporary art, cultural education and participation, and it encourages intercultural encounters.
The residency program takes place in the monument award-winning “Schießl-Haus” in Kollnburg. During the three-month residency at SCHIESSLHAUS AiR, the guest artists are provided with living, working and exhibition spaces. The modern and functional furnishings of the artists’ residence create optimal living and working conditions. On the ground floor of the artists’ residence are the common areas: a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen with a seating area, a storage room, and two sanitary rooms (bathroom and toilet). The upper floor is divided into three spacious individual rooms. The light-flooded, shared studio (approx. 22 sqm) is also located on the upper floor. Additionally, the individual rooms can be used as workspaces.
The SCHIESSLHAUS AiR program offers living, studio and exhibition spaces; the light-flooded, communal working studio is located on the upper floor. The studio consists of an approx. 22 square meter workroom with two large windows, a double door leading to the outside, and an inside sink. Moreover, the individual private rooms can be used as workspaces. The artists are responsible for their working materials. There is wireless internet (WLAN) throughout the house. A beamer, printer and basic tools are available for common use.
The residency includes mandatory participation in three public events of the SCHIESSLHAUS AiR program: the Jour Fixe (project presentations, networking event, workshop), the Kollnburg Art Sunday (Open Studio Day) and the final exhibition (group show at the end of the residency period). In addition, the participation in the residency program requires a short report on the residency experience either in written form, in the form of a photo album, a video/audio documentation or similar. During the residency period at the Schiesslhaus AiR, there is a residency obligation. Short-term absences are possible.
The SCHIESSLHAUS AiR program offers to guest artists living, studio and exhibition spaces, high-profile presentation platforms and networks, a monthly residency grant incl. costs of materials and a one-off travel allowance.
A jury of several experts decides on the awarding of the residency grants. Criteria for the selection process are the quality and professionalism of previous artistic works and an interdisciplinary/international occupancy of the artists’ residence.
Applications must be submitted via an online form, including an Artist CV and work samples/portfolio. For further information, see:
