The IAA is a worldwide network active in five regions: Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific, Africa, as well as the Arab States.
The IGBK in Germany is a catalyst for promoting the European IAA region and acted as the office of IAA Europe from 2015-2019. Today the IGBK is still actice in the Executive Committee of IAA Europe.
As early as the 1980s European meetings took place in Germany on the initiative of the IGBK: 1984 in Bonn, 1985 in Mannheim and 1986 on Sylt.
In 2002 the IAA Europe was established as an independent umbrella organisation with about 40 member organisations. The aim is to focus on the specific needs of artists in Europe and to support cooperation at a European level. Member organisations from Northern and Eastern countries are especially committed to making the IAA Europe an active platform for exchange and project cooperation.
